The Canadian Association of Moldmakers (CAMM) and Automate Canada are pleased to present you with: “Advanced Manufacturing is MADE IN CANADA an SME Perspective”.
Automate Canada and CAMM came together to discuss developing a strategy to help our companies grow and to support our home communities.
We are “makers”. We are an essential part of the overall supply chain.
As such, we wanted to develop a strategy focused on our SME members to not only make a difference but provide solutions for others to consider on how best to support us.
While this report was prepared during the COVID-19 it goes far beyond the current pandemic.
“This is a broader examination of the state of advanced manufacturing in Canada with a focus on small- and medium-sized manufacturing facilities which are the heart of many towns and mid-sized communities across Canada,” says CAMM chair Jonathon Azzopardi. “The impact of COVID-19 has only further amplified the need for action now”.
In the long term, our goal is to combat the hollowing out of the advanced manufacturing sector, a risk faced by small- and medium-sized manufacturing facilities.
This report provides a list of recommendations and observations from this segment of Canada’s advanced manufacturing sector that, to date, has been mainly excluded from these other processes.
The recommendations identify some objectives for industry and suggests how others can support a strong, sustainable domestic manufacturing sector in Canada.
“The time is now to not only talk about our value but to show our strength in a collaborative approach,” says Shelley Fellows, Automate Canada Board Chair. “We are putting action behind our words to explore the many opportunities in moldmaking and automation, which in turn will strengthen Canadian manufacturing overall.”
