Automate Canada now accepting applications for board of directors

During the past 2 years, it has been clear that Automate Canada addresses a very critical sector for manufacturing in Canada – representation and advocacy for the industrial automation/advanced manufacturing technology sectors.  As such, we’re very excited to take the next step in growth for the organization, which is establishing a board of directors for the not-for-profit corporation.

If you are passionate about our industry & would like to contribute your experience, insight and energy to a dynamic and growing organization, please reach out to [email protected] with your resume & expression of interest by March 19th.

We are looking for 7 people from among our member companies and industry to serve for up to 3 year terms on our board of directors.  As an FYI, the board fully constituted is made up of 10 individuals, of which we currently have a board chair and vice-chair and a representative from our sister organization, the Canadian Association of Moldmakers.  Meetings will be bi-monthly, thus 5 board meetings plus 1 annual general meeting per year, plus ad hoc committee meetings as required.   The next meeting of our board of directors will be in April.

As we are an organization which relies on our valued volunteer directors to support our staff in strategic areas, it is our objective that the 7 remaining members of the board will address a specific portfolio.  These are:

a.     Membership – assisting with member engagement priorities and membership growth

b.     Marketing – supporting marketing & promotions activities of Automate Canada

c.     Government Relations – participating in and guiding advocacy with policy makers & elected officials in municipal, provincial and federal government

d.     Innovation – advising as to projects & programs supporting the adoption & development of advanced technologies & innovation

e.     Talent – supporting projects & programs designed to ensure a strong, sustainable talent pipeline for our industry, as well as supporting diverse & inclusive workplaces

f.      Youth – a voice for the “under 30” members of our workforce NOTE: this director should be aged 30 years or younger

g.     Finance – supporting the administration team with financial oversight & guidance

Thanks,

Shelley
